Association of The ÈÕº«¹ú²úav¸£Àû of Akron Retirees Scholarship
The Association of The ÈÕº«¹ú²úav¸£Àû of Akron Retirees Scholarship was created in March 2007 and revised in August 2017 and March 2023. Thanks to gifts from Association members and other ÈÕº«¹ú²úav¸£Àû retirees, the scholarship has been endowed, and the retiree group intends to continue building upon the endowment with yearly fundraising.
The Association of The ÈÕº«¹ú²úav¸£Àû of Akron Retirees (AUAR) was founded in 1998 and comprises ÈÕº«¹ú²úav¸£Àû of Akron faculty, staff, administrators, and all retirees who wish to continue their involvement in the life of the ÈÕº«¹ú²úav¸£Àû and its students. The group meets monthly for social, educational, advocacy, and philanthropic purposes. Its members support and enrich the ÈÕº«¹ú²úav¸£Àû in many ways.
The Association of The ÈÕº«¹ú²úav¸£Àû of Akron Retirees Scholarship will be awarded annually to part or full-time juniors or seniors enrolled at The ÈÕº«¹ú²úav¸£Àû of Akron, with recipients selected from different colleges, schools, and departments on a rotating basis each year. To be eligible for the scholarship, students must:
- Have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher;
- Have some degree of financial need as determined by the Office of Student Financial Aid, which will consider total family income, family size, special circumstances, and other scholarships or loans;
- Be involved with the community or campus groups; and
- Demonstrate excellent character and a strong work ethic.
Recipients shall be selected by The ÈÕº«¹ú²úav¸£Àû of Akron Scholarship Committee in the Office of Student Financial Aid.
